If you are a Starcraft fan than this will be an excellent news. Starcraft 2 is coming out this year. Huray! Starcraft 1 have been one of the best game ever you could play. Its sits in the same spot as Diablo 2 and not to mention WOW. Blizzard Entertainment have announced the is coming out. Currently they are polishing the game so it can be perfect once released. The graphics are excellent. Did i mention im an addict to Starcraft. Starcraft is addictive but you cant play it for 3 days straight, at least i cant. You get sick of it after the second day. So, i really like Starcraft as i call it controlled addiction. The game itself limits the amount of hours yuo can play as you naturally get bored of it after certain time. Its selves controlling and that what makes it so much fun. Huray!

Computer games are simply addictive. Im actually a reformed WOW hardcore fan. I used to play non-stop for like 15 to 18 hours a day. Stopping only to sleep, eat and shit. All i do all day long was playing WOW. Before i started the hardcore gaming, i was mealy a Pinball fan. You know, the free one in all Windows based desktop. I used to score something 22 to 28 million points. Sometime i will use other peoples’ PC only to set a new high score for the Pinball game. What started out as a simple, casual gaming, it end up with a full blown addiction to WOW. Its unbelievable i would spend hours playing with little or no social life at all. My friends thought i had drop out of college and mom got so worried as i won’t go home even during the holidays.

Thank god i have stopped. All it took was some good, week long camping. Its like a system reboot. I got WOW out of my system. In fact, i have began to love camping. Getting back to nature is awesome. Sure, temptation was big for me once im back home. But i manage to get myself busy again with fishing, another hobby of mine. I understand why WOW gamers find it so hard to get of it. Its so addictive. I dont know but maybe its because you get rewarded when you upgrade yourselves or your online character. My advice, stay away from WOW. Its worse than cocaine.

Celebrating Christmas

Do you celebrate Christmas? I do not but i do get into the mood of celebration as the new year is coming up fast (less than 2 days away). Its estimated than 2.2 billion of the world’s population are Christian. However, most people get into the celebration simply due to the sheer scale of the celebration. Worldwide, there are more people celebrating Christmas than any other religious festivals. Even in non Christian majority countries like Japan have big celebration installed come 25th Dec. I guess its due to worldwide coverage of the event and since most develop countries or first world nations celebrate them. Thus making it to the prime-time news segment. From what i have been seeing on TV, the celebration only gets bigger and more outrages every year. More wacky videos are available online showing how different people are celebrating the occation. To all of you having a jolly good time, merry Christmas.

Necessity

Its amazing how a luxury thing at one time becomes a necessity the next, so quickly. Take for example the Internet. I remember back 10 years ago, i would use dial up to connect to Yahoo.com. I rarely used the Internet as its quite expensive and to tell you the truth, more of a luxury i dont need. Fast forward 10 years, walla… i must get my Internet everywhere and every time. Its become a necessity. Its not only true for the Internet, its true for most things as well. Cellphone, another example. There was a time when electricity was a luxury. Now its basic necessity.

To me, not having a wifi connection is like having a toilet with no flush. A computer desktop with no broadband access is like dunkin minus the donut. It got to be dunkin donut and not dunkin minus the donut. What is the point of having a fast desktop computer if you don’t have a equally fast Internet access as well?

I see it in other people as well. I was in Starbucks the other day and i saw this lady got so upset because she cant get internet connected to her notebook. She was running up and down to the counter asking why she is not connected. Turns out she forgot to enable wireles connectivity on the notebook. You know, i used to remember people getting upset if they waited too long for their coffee. Now, people get upset if they dont have the Internet.

If you could make a list of necessity item today and compare it to somebody else necessity list (like 100 years ago), you will se a big difference. I bet we will be adding more to that list in the next 10 years faster than we did in the last 20 years. One word, pregress.
